This figure was based on a commitment to walk at least a mile a day, similar in distance to a hedgehog. Inevitably we walked a bit further and we enjoyed maintaining consistency and creating new routines whilst observing the world around us. <\/p>
Follower of the page, Sandy Daniels had the closest guess of the distance at 42 miles and won a prize.<\/p>
WTK continues to reach out to the community as a wildlife friendly group of volunteers and we have recently done a talk to the Kinoulton WI and made two visits to Belvoir Care Home. We were made very welcome.<\/p>
We also continue to expand the Keyworth Hedgehog Highway, but we now need more households to come forward for free gaps in existing fences, walls or gates.\u00a0<\/p>
We also note a trend for the removal of hedgerows at the front of houses and erection of often impenetrable fences and walls which is really bad news for hedgehogs and other wildlife in our community.<\/p>
We currently still retain the title of Britain\u2019s Biggest Hedgehog Street, but hedgerow is crucial to hedgehogs and where there are barriers we still need to give them access if we are to help them.\u00a0<\/p>
Hugh Warwick, author, ecologist and spokesperson for the BHPS spoke on Radio Nottingham recently, explaining our need as a country to open up highways for hedgehogs, support them with hedgerow, log and leaf piles, stop the use of pesticides, be more relaxed in the garden with wild areas and refrain from bonfires.\u00a0<\/p>

They have both been popular and we hope people will be inspired by their contents.\u00a0<\/p> Please ask at the Keyworth Library reception for a copy. The Park Run Bus<\/strong> pickups start from 8:15am and we arrive back at around 10:15\/30am.<\/p> You can join us on the bus free of charge and you don\u2019t even have to run. Thanks for all your support of hedgehogs in 2024 and know that some hedgehogs never hibernate.

PARK RUN BUS<\/strong>
Starting on Saturday 28th December 2024<\/strong> and every Saturday through January, 2025,<\/strong> then usually the first Saturday of the month <\/strong>thereafter, we are offering to transport you from Keyworth to Rushcliffe Country Park and back, for the parkrun there.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>
